“Agua de Valencia – Official trailer”
The documentary “Agua de Valencia” is the first cinematic account of the devastating storm Dana, which struck Spain in October 2024, bringing catastrophic floods and rare tornadoes to the region. Filmed during the first hours of the disaster and its aftermath, the film captures the tragedy through the eyes of foreigners, documenting human stories and the scale of destruction.
Storm Dana, which hit the regions of Valencia and Castilla-La Mancha the hardest, claimed the lives of at least 227 people, most of them residents of the province of Valencia. Rivers burst their banks, flooding cities up to the third floor, sweeping away cars, bridges, and homes. Narrow streets turned into “death traps,” and in some municipalities, such as Benetússer, rescuers couldn’t reach victims for days.
Filming began in the earliest hours of the storm—at a time when the news was still silent, but the water was already destroying everything in its path. This is not only a film about nature’s wrath, but also about human vulnerability, dignity, and courage. Through the lens: flooded streets, people’s testimonies, despair, and hope.
“We started filming from the very first minutes, not yet realizing the scale. But when the water reached the third floor, when cars and people disappeared in the currents — it became clear: this is a story the world needs to hear.”
— Dmytro Bas, film director.
“Agua de Valencia” is not just a chronicle of disaster. It is a human story. It is the bitter consequence of climate change — one that can no longer be ignored.
The film is produced by TheDBpost and United Content Hub
The film is produced by TheDBpost — an international post-production company founded by a Ukrainian in Spain in 2020. Today, the team consists of over 40 professionals from different countries, actively working on film projects around the world.
The project was made possible through partnership with United Content Hub, combining creative talent and international expertise to create an authentic and powerful film.
But when the devastating storm Dana hit Spain, the team couldn’t stay on the sidelines. Realizing the scale of the tragedy, TheDBpost took on the full production cycle of the documentary — from real-time filming and scriptwriting to final post-production.
This is the first documentary about Storm Dana in Spain, created by a foreign team — not from the outside, but from within the events themselves.
