Filming has begun for the romantic comedy “Vidpustka Naoslip” in the stunning landscapes of Zakarpattia. Early footage from the film was presented during a special event, “Ukrainian Day,” at the 81st Venice Film Festival.
The official partners of the project include the national online cinema SWEET.TV and the production company FinalCutMedia.
Despite the light-hearted nature of the genre, the plot of the film tackles important relationship issues set against the backdrop of dramatic events.

“This is a situational romantic comedy that immerses us in modern everyday life,” says the film’s director, Valeria Fadeeva. “The unique aspect of the film lies in highlighting a social mission, specifically the adaptation of military personnel to civilian life. All of this is presented in a light, positive form with touches of everyday humor from the Zakarpattia region, set against the picturesque beauty of the Carpathian Mountains.”

The film’s screenplay was written by Yulia Salimovska, with Oleg Avilov and Kara Balayan serving as director of photography and production designer, respectively, and Marina Bolshukhina as casting director. The lead roles are played by Tatyana Malkova and Daniel Salem, a member of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“They might say that my character Anna is a real hellcat, but to me, she’s a girl who has become a hostage to the constructs of society,” shared Tetiana Malkova about her role. “At some point, Anna enters a world she had truly dreamed of deep down. Only by breaking free from these constructs and allowing herself to pursue her true dreams does the character find her happiness.”

The post-production producer for the film is Dmytro Bas, with Semen Gorov as the creative producer. The film’s executive producers are Oleksiy Lymarenko and Andriy Nohin.
“We are convinced that in the current Ukrainian reality, particularly during wartime, an important tool for market interaction with the international community is the creation of co-produced genre films and their presentation on international platforms. That’s why we presented the film’s first submission at the Venice Film Market this year,” noted the film’s executive producer Oleksii Lymarenko. “The film reveals Ukraine, its history and traditions, love, and simple human relationships against the backdrop of the beautiful Ukrainian Carpathians in a multifaceted way.”

The international theatrical release is planned for 2025.
