At TheDBpost, we believe every film has a heartbeat — a story that touches people, makes them laugh, or inspires them to dream. Recently, we had the honor of working on a project that does all of this and more: the Ukrainian romantic comedy Blind Vacation. This film, which premiered on March 13, 2025, has already won the hearts of audiences, becoming the #1 Ukrainian release of its opening weekend with box office earnings of 5,518,947 UAH and 31,505 tickets sold. For us, being part of this success feels like a warm hug from every viewer who laughed, cried, and left the cinema with a smile.
A Story That Speaks to the Soul
Blind Vacation tells the story of a bold and successful businesswoman who plans a luxurious spa getaway but ends up in a small house in the Carpathian Mountains. Used to control and comfort, she must adapt to a simpler life. Things get even more interesting when the house’s owner, a soldier named Nazar, returns unexpectedly. What starts as a clash turns into a journey full of surprises, humor, and maybe even love. “Will her boldness win, or will love take over?” the film asks — and it’s a question that keeps audiences hooked until the end.
Directed by Valeriya Fadyeyeva in her debut as a filmmaker, the movie shines with honesty and warmth. “The audience always feels it,” Valeriya shares. “The first box office numbers are amazing, but what matters most are your emotions and the way you feel after watching our film. This story gets a warm, sincere response in people’s hearts, and for me, that’s a great honor and joy.”
Our Role at TheDBpost
As the postproduction team, we at TheDBpost were proud to join a talented crew. Our post-production producer, Dmytro Bas, led the charge, working closely with executive post-production producer Valentin Andrieiev. Together, they made sure every scene felt just right. “We wanted to create content that entertains but also makes you think,” says general producer Oleksiy Lymarenko. “Every frame and every scene are filled with honesty and deep meaning.”
Our editing director, Volodymyr Pinchuk, shaped the film’s rhythm, while sound director Bohdan Skoryk and sound editor Albert Malakhov added layers of magic with their work on the audio. From the cheerful laughs to the quiet, heartfelt moments, the sound brings the Carpathian setting alive. Composers Albert Malakhov and Bohdan Skoryk, along with musician Anna Khrystenko, wove a soundtrack that dances alongside Jerry Heil’s original compositions, giving the film its unique voice.
Colorists Dmytro Bas and Valentin Andrieiev, with assistant Dmytro Starodubtsev, graded each frame with care, making the mountains glow and the emotions pop, highlighting the romantic story. Computer graphics by Valentin Andrieiev and Bohdan Skoryk added subtle touches.
A Team Effort, A Shared Pride
This project was a true collaboration. From scriptwriter Yulia Salimovska to creative producer Semen Horov, every person poured their heart into Blind Vacation. The cast, including Daniel Salem, Tetiana Malkova, and debut actress Lida Lee, brought the characters to life with energy and charm. For us at TheDBpost, seeing their performances come together in post-production was a joy. “This film was made with love, and you can feel it,” Valeriya Fadyeyeva says—and we couldn’t agree more.
In a time when people need both laughter and hope, Blind Vacation delivers. It’s a story about finding beauty in the unexpected, about letting go of control and opening up to something new. Working on it reminded us at TheDBpost why we love our craft: we get to help tell stories that matter. As Oleksiy Lymarenko puts it, “We found the golden middle—combining lightness with a serious message.”
So, if you haven’t seen Blind Vacation yet, grab your friends, family, or someone special and head to the cinema. Like Valeriya says, “It’ll make you laugh, think, dream, and feel inspired.”
For us at TheDBpost, being part of this journey was a privilege.
